The price does not change with the drive. A job in Blue Ridge and the same job in Sandy Springs are quoted the same way, by how much space the load fills in the truck. There is no distance surcharge and no minimum that only applies to the far end of the map. What changes with geography is how quickly we can get there, not what it costs when we do.

One Truck, Two Very Different Halves of North Georgia.

Dawsonville sits in the middle of it. What is north of there and what is south of there are not the same business.

North: The Mountain and Cabin Counties

Gilmer, Fannin, White, Lumpkin and Pickens run up into the mountains, and a large share of the property in them is rented out or used part of the year.

That makes the calendar matter more than anywhere else. Cabin turnovers happen between bookings, apple season fills Ellijay every October, and Helen runs on a tourist year. It also means terrain: steep gravel drives, houses built below the road, and lots where everything has to be carried up before it reaches the truck.

The other thing these counties share is that getting anyone to come out is the hard part. We run these as scheduled routes rather than special trips, which is why a gravel road does not change the number.

South: The Suburban Counties

Forsyth, Cherokee, Hall, Gwinnett and Fulton are the other half, and they run on housing stock rather than a season.

Whole subdivisions went up together, so they reach their replacement years together. Estates change hands. Offices and storefronts turn over between tenants. What varies is access rather than timing: a guard booth in Johns Creek, a historic street in Roswell with nowhere to park, eight acres of Milton with a barn on it, a Sandy Springs walk-out sixty feet below the road.

So the first questions on a southern job are about the approach, not the room count. Get that right on the phone and the number does not move when the crew arrives.

And Dawson County in the middle, which is home.
