The Line Where Cherokee Stops Being a Suburb.
Ball Ground is a small historic town sitting exactly where the subdivisions run out and the land starts again.
Farmsteads, Outbuildings, and Things That Have Sat a While
Out past town the properties stop being lots and start being land. Older houses and working farmsteads, most of them with more than one building on them.
What accumulates on a place like that is heavy and awkward: a pole barn with decades of equipment under it, fencing pulled out and stacked at the treeline, a chicken house or equipment shed that stopped being used two owners ago, an old mobile home nobody has lived in for years. None of it fits in a pickup and no bulk collection is coming down a gravel drive to take it.
So it sits, usually because getting a crew to come this far never quite worked out. We run this direction regularly and the price does not go up because the road turned to gravel.

Lake Arrowhead and the Canton Highway Creep
The other side of Ball Ground is the part that is changing. Lake Arrowhead sits up in the hills with its own community around the water, and the Canton Highway corridor carries suburban spillover steadily north from Canton.
Lake Arrowhead work looks like lake work anywhere: deck furniture that did not survive a few winters, a hot tub that stopped getting filled, boat gear stored in a crawlspace. The Hickory Flat side and the newer houses along the highway behave like ordinary Cherokee suburbs, garages and appliances and move-outs.
Same crew for both, and because we are already coming out here for the rural jobs, the suburban ones rarely need to wait.
